Dr. Neelima Gokhale

Dr. Neelima Gokhale has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology. In 1978, she completed a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Sofia Polytechnic, Mumbai. She has worked as a kindergarten Teacher in Mumbai, Hong Kong and Singapore for more than 20 years.

 

While working in Singapore, she completed her BEd as well as PhD from the University of South Australia, and went on to work at a teacher education institution in Singapore before returning to India in 2008.

 

Since her return, she has been involved with in-service teacher education of balwadi teachers at Pragat Shikshan Sanstha and at Anand Niketan in Wardha, Maharashtra, as well as in Bithur, Uttar Pradesh.

 

Dr. Gokhale believes that high quality early childhood education is crucial for young children’s later success. She would,therefore, like to continue to work with early childhood teachers to help strengthen their understanding of issues related to young children’s development in general and literacy development in particular.
